Environmental Compliance Consultants, Inc. (ECC) is an Alaska owned Environmental Services and Consulting corporation with a 23-year history. We are a leading provider of environmental and industrial services to our local communities, the Department of Defense (DOD), Department of Veterans Affairs, and other Commercial, Municipality, State, and Federal clients. We offer a variety of expanding opportunities with Service Centers in North Pole and Anchorage, Alaska; Portland, Oregon; and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. ECC is looking for Environmental Scientists to join our growing team of Scientist and Project Manager staff at our Southern Alaska location officed in Anchorage, Alaska. The successful candidate will work on a multitude of environmental and scientific projects for DOD, local, state, federal and commercial clients throughout Alaska. Environmental Scientists perform remedial investigations, groundwater and air monitoring, field screening and sample collection, decommissioning projects, development and execution of workplans, writing detailed comprehensive reports, client and public relations, various other environmental and scientific fieldwork, and supervision and mentorship of junior scientists. Experience with DOD and Federal contracts is highly desired. We look forward to meeting you and making a positive difference in our communities together!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Determine data collection methods, then collect and analyze samples of soil, water, air, and other materials
  • Conduct fieldwork to investigate the nature and extent of soil, sediment, groundwater, and other media contamination
  • Develop plans to prevent, control, or fix environmental problems
  • Perform program research, planning and development, permitting, compliance monitoring, inspections/enforcement, and technical support services in relation to air, water, waste, federal facilities, corrective action, mining, biology, and other environmental programs
  • Develop mitigation and after-action reports and presentations that present research findings and guidance to clients
  • Determine potential impact of contaminants on a proposed site and identify any adverse environmental impact that projects may have.
  • Perform project management on projects commensurate with experience and capability.

Qualifications:

  • Must have a BS or BA degree in science or engineering field
  • 1+ years working in environmental science or related field
  • Ability to analyze, understand, and present complex data
  • Excellent technical report writing skills
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
  • A 40-hour HAZWOPER certification is required and may be completed following start of employment.
  • Valid state driver's license with clean driving record
  • Pass pre-employment drug screening including marijuana
  • Self-motivated, strong work ethic, integrity
  • Strong attention to detail and strict adherence to timelines
  • Ability to pass a background check to obtain and maintain access for military installations
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Ability to travel and work in challenging conditions
  • RCRA/Hazardous Waste experience is a major plus

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
