We are seeking a qualified and responsible Evening Receptionist with a strong commitment to social services to work the evening shift at our Forest Hills Community Center. The ideal person must have good communication skills and will provide key support managing the lobby area and providing data entry support. The primary purpose of this role is to engage with every individual who enters the Forest Hills Community Center to provide a welcoming space for our evening program participants, which includes After School Program, Adult Education, and Evening Teen Center, and other various programs and events.
Responsibilities:
- Provide a welcoming experience; receive, direct, and assist members, staff, and visitors, deliveries and answer inquiries.
- Appropriately answer and route incoming calls; make announcements and/or page staff.
- Provide program information about and referrals to Queens Community House and the Forest Hills Community Center programs.
- Promote safety procedures and protocols by monitoring entry/exits and advising Facilities Manager and relevant staff of concerns or issues.
- Effectively manage the center’s evening schedule and communicate changes to all appropriate parties.
- Report facility issues (leaks, clean up, etc.) to the maintenance team.
- Provide support and assist with onsite and agency-wide events, as needed.
- Provide clerical support.
- Receive, log, and notify staff of deliveries and mail that comes in during the shift.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school degree or equivalency; some college coursework ideal.
- 1-2 years of related experience.
- Demonstrated attendance and punctuality in meeting required schedule.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel; willingness to learn other computer programs as necessary.
- Proven ability to be proactive with excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and use appropriate discretion.
- Foreign language skills are an asset (Russian or Spanish).

Status : Part-Time, Non-Exempt
Salary: $15 -$17 per hour
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 4:30pm – 9:30pm
