Palace Market in Point Reyes Station is looking for an experienced chef to lead our kitchen. Our team is committed to providing high quality, seasonal dishes that are unsurpassed in flavor and freshness. Our customers should leave the store singing your praises with their arms full of good food. Your menu will shine a light on the local bounty from farmers, makers, and foragers, putting thoughtful food production and responsible sourcing above all else.
Responsibilities
- Lead our team in the continued revision and expansion of our offerings. Keeping product selection in line with, or ahead of, customer expectations.
- Establish and maintain relationships with local raw ingredient suppliers.
- Maintain a clean and tidy kitchen. All surfaces cleaned daily, deliveries promptly stored, and equipment clean & maintained.
- Nurture a positive working environment and lead by example. Train, mentor, and supervise all new and existing team members.
- Produce department schedules and reports in a timely and professional manner.
- Continually assess and improve profitability.
- Regularly review & update offerings to maintain sales growth
- Evaluate, improve & implement SOPs as needed.
- Ensure correct ordering, receiving, unloading, storage, and rotation of merchandise and raw ingredients.
- Fill in where needed to ensure excellent guest service standards and efficient operations.

- Has 3+ years of verifiable food service leadership experience.

- Fluent in English, written and verbal. Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
- Can stand for 8hrs/day, 40+ hours/week.
- Can lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Schedule:
Must be available to work holidays and at least one weekend day. Our locals are our bread & butter, but we're still a predominately tourism focused area.
