Family Worker Part-Time Remote (Travel Required)


EAC Network, a not-for-profit social service agency that empowers, assists, and cares for over 54,000 people in need through 100 programs across Long Island and NYC, seeks a Family Worker to work part time for its Alternative Resources Team Program. The Family Worker is a remote position with required travel for home visits and field work. EAC Network welcomes social workers from the local area of Central Islip, NY to apply!


The Family Worker position is a non-exempt position paying $25-30 per hour for up to 28 hours/ per week. Work schedule may vary based on assignments needed by the agency. The role reports to Division Director.


Primary Purpose of Job:

The EAC Alternative Resources Team Family Worker is a part time position. EAC Alternative Resources Team (ART) will utilize a team of Consultant Family Workers to conduct assessments and home visits in situations where the Court has determined that there is no immediate danger to children. The Family Worker will conduct timely home visits and written evaluations to the court.


Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement program initiatives for EAC Alternative Resources Team while carrying a caseload of 2-3 families.
  • Serve as a liaison between program stakeholders to troubleshoot problems and provide effective feedback.
  • Maintain communication with the court to ensure the needs of the court are being met.
  • Accept Court appointment (orders) from Suffolk County Family Court and Suffolk County Supreme Court and review court order to ensure EAC Network is appointed.
  • Make reasonable efforts to establish initial contact with family within 24 hours of receiving case assignment and conduct culturally/linguistically appropriate initial home visit to begin the assessment within 48 hours of receipt of assignment
  • Communicate with all the necessary parties to address the concerns of the court and conduct a thorough assessment of the situation, including home visits, phone calls or outreaching to other parties.
  • Provide any necessary referrals to community-based service providers to the families.
  • Ensure that initial home visit and court reports are conducted within the program guidelines.
  • Be available for court testimony if the need arises
  • Communicate any circumstances for not following program guidelines to the court.
  • Submit completed home evaluations studies to the court prior to scheduled court hearings. .
  • Track cases referred to the ART, case assignments to Family Workers, report submission dates, statistics etc. as well as provide support to the Family Workers.
  • Prepare and submit monthly statistical reports
  • Complete and submit vouchers/invoices to the Court for payment of services and communicate with EAC Finance Dept to track receipt of payment.
  • Participate in team meetings, case conferences, agency presentations, trainings, and related events.
  • Perform all other relevant duties as determined by Supervision and EAC NETWORK Administration.


Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required:

  • LMSW or LCSW Required
  • Bilingual (Spanish Speaking) preferred
  • Flexible work schedule, evenings and possibly weekends
  • Strong writing skills required
  • Minimum of two years of relevant experience in child welfare, home visits, home assessments, working with families etc..
  • Must be proficient in computer applications or other automated systems such as spreadsheets, Microsoft Office applications, calendar, and email and/or database software necessary to perform work assignments.
  • Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have access to automobile and possess valid NYS driver’s license.
