Job description

This position is responsible for providing assistance to Field Service Engineers at customer site, to develop field electrical technical services which includes troubleshooting of control systems and their components, maintenance, and repair of motors, etc.
When on Field Service jobs you will be paid an additional rate of $10.00 per hour (this includes $5.50 per hour Field Service Premium plus $4.50 per hour meal allowance).
Essential Functions:

  • Learn to diagnose, troubleshoot and repair issues as they relate to control systems and their components and motors.
  • Identify and assist with repair needs.
  • Receive on-the-job training from Field Engineers.
  • Complete necessary service documentation.
  • Maintain tools and test equipment properly.
  • Ensure that all completed work meets Flanders’ Standards and complies with Flanders’ ISO Quality System.
  • Communicate clearly, concisely, and with accuracy to employees, customers, and vendors.
  • Overnight travel required.

  • Observe all safety procedures and use proper safety equipment as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, neat, and safe work environment at all times.
  • Operate and maintain equipment in a safe manner at all times.
  • Promote strong company image and maintain positive working relationships at all times including professional behavior with customers, vendors, and co-workers on a daily basis.
  • Provide outstanding customer service at all times.
  • Perform work according to established company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as requested.
  • Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Associates degree and/or trade school degree in electrical or mechanical studies preferred.
  • Or practical electrical experience in mining, metal, mills or heavy industrial industries.
  • Experience:
  • Three years electrical experience in a shop, field service and/or similar environment.
  • Mining and metals industry experience preferred.
  • Other:
  • Knowledge of AC and DC motors.
  • Knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLC) and/or variable frequency drive (VFD) systems for machine troubleshooting.
  • Ability to take after-hours calls.
  • Strong math skills including algebra, trigonometry, and analytical geometry skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills working directly with customers at the customer’s work sites.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
