Job description
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Field Reps are an important way that we maximize our contacts within a community. They should be well-organized and self-motivated. It is important to understand that the NNCP is an organization that works to serve communities of color and therefore interested contractors must be comfortable visiting neighborhoods of mostly people of color.
Our target communities and colleagues come from a wide range of backgrounds. Applicants need to be able to thoughtfully navigate issues related to diversity, race, equity, and inclusion, and bring a deep commitment to advancing these values.
What is a Field Representative and what do they do?
NNCP is bringing on paid Field Representatives, an independent contractor role, this year to talk with voters across the state about the upcoming midterm elections.
We know that having in person, face-to-face conversations about voting is one of the most effective ways to increase voter turnout, so we are relying on our Field Representatives to get out and have these important conversations through door-to-door canvassing in the community.
Having these conversations will be critical in rallying support for progressive candidates and elected officials who are fighting for families of color across NC.
Where are your Field Representatives located?
For the November 8, 2022 midterm election, NNCP will have Field Reps in our targeted counties of: Alamance, Cabarrus, Cumberland, Forsyth, Guilford, Mecklenburg, New Hanover, Wake.
Instead of operating from a single location, this program allows us to work across the state and gives you an option to work in your own community! All positions are remote, and will work with an NNCP Supervisor
Are Field Representatives paid? How much?
Yes! We are paying our field reps $25 an hour.
How are Field Representatives paid?
We will pay Field Representatives through direct deposit. Tracking time for pay and setting up direct deposit is easy through our payroll vendor, and we will provide all onboarding materials.
Alternative payment methods can be arranged with the HR department.
What dates will Field Representatives work?
Field Representatives can work their own schedule, starting immediately and ending on Election
Day, November 8.
I'm already employed. Can I be a Field Representative?
Yes, as long as you are able to meet the expectations and metrics of the project. This is an incredibly flexible role, where you can complete canvassing assignments before work, after work, on the weekends, and at different times of the day or week.
Do I need to have any political experience?
No! Nobody is better at getting your neighbors and community members to vote than you are.
We will provide you with all of the tools and materials needed to complete the turf assignments and consistent follow-up from our NNCP staff about any questions you have throughout the process.
Can I tell my friends and family to apply to become a Field Representative?
Absolutely! We are encouraging anyone and everyone who lives in the communities we are canvassing to apply for our program. Please feel free to send them the application link and have them mark your name down as a referral.
