As a Dining Room Supervisor you will be responsible for quick, safe, and sanitary serving of food in a long-term care facility. This position supervises a large staff and ensures the dining environment is aesthetically please and accommodates the individual needs of the Veterans in the Home. You will report directly to the Food Service Manager.

Hourly Range: $15.68

Qualifications:

  • Ability to supervise and instruct employees, and/or other helpers
  • Associate degree or 4 years of food service experience. (Substitutions may be allowed)

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be free of diseases that may be transmitted in the performance of job responsibilities per state and local requirements
  • Walking, balancing, finger dexterity, pulling, pushing, standing, climbing, grasping, stooping, crouching, crawling, kneeling, reaching, bending, lifting, supporting, repetitive motion, frequent washing of hands
  • Essential sensory and communicative activities include: feeling, seeing speaking, hearing, smelling and tasting

Job Description Summary:

  • Supervise the dining room staff and the dining rooms overall sanitization practices and procedures.
  • Create work schedules, conduct periodic employee performance management activities, performance counseling and supervision of a large staff so that they perform in a harmonious and effective manner.
  • Perform data entry
  • Supervise adjustments to production quantities of foods produces using existing recipes. This occurs in the work required for daily production and preparation of all portions of a large production meal.
  • Check menus and make sure preparation is completed. This includes having a comprehensive understanding of the proper preparation of meal items according to all physician ordered dietary restrictions and modifications. Review daily production for proper meal presentation
  • Coordinate menu planning with Food Service Supervisor and Food Service Manager.
  • Ensure proper sanitary conditions are maintained in the Food Service Department.
  • Supervise the daily safe operation of equipment, making sure it is properly cleaned and sanitized after each use and report problem per facility policy
  • Stand for prolonged periods of time during meal service to residents and staff
  • Lift, carry and transfer heavy food containers using proper body mechanics
  • Utilize personal protective equipment (ex. pot holders, tongs, oven gloves, goggles, aprons, etc.) as instructed for safety
  • Reach above head to retrieve needed equipment that may be stored on shelves
  • Perform tasks involving repetitive motion such as mopping and/or sweeping the floor
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the use of computer and programs utilized by the facility
  • Recognize basic signs of resident distress when eating, i.e., choking, loss of consciousness. Take initial emergency steps when such circumstances are present
  • Adhere to infection control procedures as trained
  • Other duties as assigned
