Front-End Engineer

As a Barclays Front-End Engineer you’ll be the brains behind the design, installation, testing and maintenance of existing and new systems. This is more than playing around with code; you will be playing a critical role in finding innovative solutions to complex problems, for our clients and customers daily. You’ll develop a solid knowledge of the global markets and finance and make an impact right away.

Hybrid Working

We are currently operating in a hybrid working environment, meaning that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in. Please discuss the detail of the working pattern options for the role with the hiring manager.

What will you be doing?

• Developing UI components using modern languages and frameworks
• Working with a technology stack which can include any of these: Javascript, HTML, CSS, TypeScript, Angular, ReactJS, AndroidX, Android Studio
• Collaborating with UX designers and engineers, turning UX designs into elegant interactive UI and reusable components
• Producing clean, efficient, maintainable and testable code based on specification
• Using test-driven development to write top quality and well tested front-end code using test frameworks like JEST/Karma/Karate
• Designing and deploying services on public and/or private cloud infrastructure using CI/CD
• Using containerization technologies like Docker

What we’re looking for:

• BS/BA/Master’s degree or equivalent experience in computer science or engineering

Skills that will help you in the role:

• A computer science major (preferred)
• Demonstrated skill and interest in programming languages, development tools, algorithms, systems design, and architecture
