United Commercial Services (UCS) is a Grand Rapids-based cleaning and janitorial service contractor and has been a part of the West Michigan community for over 25 years. Our focus is on large facility contract janitorial services. We currently employ over 250 employees throughout the West Michigan area. Due to our dynamic growth, we are now hiring for a Full Time Recruiting/Human Resources Assistant position.
Position Overview:
A successful candidate will provide a high level of customer service, have a professional appearance and energetic demeanor, be very organized and detail oriented, have a strong ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently, be able to successfully work in a fast-paced environment, and take pride and ownership over work performed.
Essential Functions:
Primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Providing excellent customer service to employees and prospective employees of UCS.
- Conducting Phone Screenings with prospective employees, and scheduling in person interviews with candidates to meet with our Recruiter.
- Assisting with and conducting in person interviews as needed.
- Assisting applicants with online system for completing applications and prospective employees with access to online system for onboarding documents.
- Helping to promptly respond to employee inquiries and needs
- Data entry and assistance within various software systems including but not limited to Applicant Tracking System, Employee Onboarding System, and Employee Files.
- Assisting the Recruiter with orientations to ensure positive and timely experience for employees and completion of necessary tasks for onboarding.
- Conducting orientations as needed.
- Completion of all necessary requirements for onboarding, including but not limited to completion of employee onboarding paperwork, employee badge and uniform, completion of any additional submissions required for candidate placement, and communication to operations team of all new hire details.
- Performing filing and file maintenance.
- Assisting with administrative responsibilities
- Participation and helping with various employee events, both on and offsite.
- Supporting role to Human Resources Manager.
Typical working hours would be Monday-Friday, between the hours of 8:30am-6:00pm, but may vary slightly on occasion based on business needs and requirements.
Qualified candidates will have proven experience in an administrative assistant role, prior HR/interviewing experience is preferred but not required, and will have either completed an Associate’s Degree or some college, or a proven work history of equivalent business experience in a similar role.
Additionally, candidates should have excellent written and verbal communication skills, be detail oriented, demonstrate extremely strong computer and technology skills, have the ability to perform and take pride in essential repetitive tasks, and demonstrate discretion and confidentiality of sensitive information.
Must be able to pass a criminal background check and be eligible to work in the United States.
Compensation for this position will be $18 hourly wage. Eligible to participate in benefits including: group health insurance, dental, vision, long term disability coverage, life insurance, paid company holidays, and paid time off.
