NOTICE OF EXTERNAL JOB OPPORTUNITYPOSTING #SB-184-22EGENERAL SERVICES WORKER I, II LOCATION: FACILITIES PLANNING DEPARTMENT, GENERAL SERVICES GROUP, JOINT ADMINISTRATION OFFICE, WHITTIERNOTE: The work schedule for this position is Monday – Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm or 8:30 am to 5:00 pm with a possible rotation between both schedules.The current vacancy is at the Joint Administration Office. The list of eligible candidates resulting from this recruitment may be used to fill additional vacancies, at any Districts location, in the next six months. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Performing a variety of general maintenance tasks involving manual labor: primarily in a non-industrial type of facility. JOB SUMMARY: Job content can involve performing building maintenance and custodial duties; checking and filling cars with gasoline and oil regularly; cleaning fleet vehicles; inspecting vehicle batteries and fluid levels; completing and updating vehicle service and repair logs; performing vehicle safety inspections; making minor repairs independently; performing courier tasks; delivering and picking up packages, documents, parts and supplies; delivering and picking up vehicles for service and repair at automotive shops; moving supplies, office furniture, partitions and stock room items; performing minor plumbing repairs such as changing washers, unplugging toilets, replacing and repairing faucets; removing litter; maintaining parking areas by placing chains and barriers; painting small items such as wastebaskets, signs, rails and curbs; performing a wide variety of general building maintenance and routine stockroom tasks; operating a desktop computer to maintain records, create work orders and procure merchandise; and performing related duties as required.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
All applicants must possess the following: Valid California Class C driver licenseFor GENERAL SERCIVES WORKER II: One year of experience as a General Services Worker I.DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in building maintenance including plumbing, office modification and repair.Experience in fleet vehicle maintenance including minor repairs and safety inspections.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
For BOTH CLASSES, the competitive selection process may cover: Knowledge of: Stock handling practicesBasic concepts of equipment maintenance and repairs Basic equipment and materials used in mechanical maintenance Basic automotive servicing including fueling, checking batteries and oil, and changing tires Use of basic hand and power tools Safe driving practices and traffic lawsBasic safety considerations for mechanical maintenance workAbility to: Lift and handle bulky items Learn how to operate hand and power tools used to perform basic maintenance and mechanical adjustmentsUtilize a computer and related equipment to maintain records, create work orders, procure merchandise, and perform other stockroom dutiesFor GENERAL SERVICES WORKER II: The ability to accomplish all aspects of the position with full proficiency.
