Duties and Responsibilities:
- Center landscaping- ensuring all flower beds and islands are weeded frequently. Ensuring all trees, plants, shrubs and bushes are healthy and well taken care of. Prune trees and bushes when needed. Report any issues to the Grounds Manager. Additionally, responsible to work with the Grounds Manager for fertilizing all grassy areas and weed control.
- Work closely with the Grounds Manager to become familiar with the irrigation system and layout of the valves and what zones they control. Adjust irrigation heads when needed.
- Assist in supervising any volunteer workers performing landscaping duties.
- Maintain sidewalks and trails on the property. Keep clean, free of debris and up to safety and visual standards.
- Keep parking areas clean and orderly to ensure that space usage is maximized.
- Play a key role in snow removal: removing snow from the sidewalks, entry ways, etc. Apply ice melt (both granular and liquid) to all appropriate surfaces per direction of the Grounds Manager. Place appropriate signage when necessary (i.e.-slippery when wet).
- Patrol parking area in order to prevent vehicle damage and vehicle or property thefts. Report any outside safety concerns.
- Identify and report any outside problem areas of the building, parking lots and landscape common areas.
- Assist with inside maintenance duties such as set ups, cleaning and miscellaneous building maintenance.
- Maintain clean and organized shop and garage areas.
- Assist with general maintenance for all fleet vehicles.
- Clean and inspect all outside patio furniture.
- Assist with pest control for outside of building and common areas.
- Remove all trash and debris from outside common areas.
- Warmly greet customers.
- Escort customers to their vehicles in order to ensure their safety if requested.
- Must be able to resolve conflicts using conflict resolution techniques.
- Enforce staff parking regulations and notify manager on duty if policy is broken.
- Must take proper care of your body (i.e. sun block, water, proper shoes, etc.)
- Perform other duties as assigned.
General Qualifications and Proficiencies:
- High school diploma or GED equivalency.
- Experience in landscaping (strongly preferred)
- Demonstrated ability to work without supervision.
- Ability to reason and problem solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to balance multiple tasks at once.
- Must be willing to work a varied shift (days, nights, weekends, etc.)
- Able to work with all ethnic and socio-economic populations.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to kneel, squat, bend, lift, climb, and stand for prolonged periods of time.
- Ability to grasp, push and pull objects and reach overhead.
- Ability to lift and carry 75 lbs
