Boulder Scientific Company (BSC) is headquartered in Mead, CO, and is a premier provider of organometallic compounds and other specialty chemicals used in a wide range of applications. BSC is a pioneer and leading manufacturer of metallocene catalysts and co-catalysts that are primarily used to produce metallocene polyethylene, polypropylene and elastomers, but also supplies products into Electronics, Pharmaceutical and Defense applications. BSC operates two sites in Northern Colorado, which include: a main production facility in Mead and a second facility in Longmont. BSC has continuously grown the sales of its products to existing and new customers and expects to continue on a high growth trajectory.
We are seeking a Health and Safety (H&S) Specialist to drive key Health and Safety programs and initiatives.

Job Responsibilities:
- Provides effective Health and Safety Training for new hire orientation and periodic refresher courses
- Ensures Health and Safety Training content is up to date, accurate and consistent with the needs of the business
- Organizes and reviews data for entry into Velocity EHS data management software; primary administrator of the data management system
- Conducts Job Hazard Analyses (JHA) as needed and uses H&S expertise to train others in the organization on the JHA method
- Compiles EHS data and analyzes for trends
- Develops inspection checklists from existing safety and environmental programs in the format required for the EHS data management software
- Makes recommendations for updates to Health and Safety Policies and SOPs
- Updates EHS forms and work instructions; collaborates with affected departments to review, updates and maintains in compliance with applicable regulations and current BSC practices
- Improves the EHS document management system
- Reviews, updates, and maintains OSHA logs
- Updates batch records with appropriate H&S information including PPE, safe work procedures, controls, etc.
- Updates EHS communication on electronic boards; supports effective communication programs to enhance and encourage awareness of EHS risks and compliance
- Schedules and facilitates emergency response drills and alarm testing as required
- Participates in incident investigations and facilitates identification of causal factors as well as corrective and preventive actions to prevent reoccurrence
- Assists in conducting IH sampling and facilitate third party IH monitoring
- Ensures approved PPE and Emergency Response safety supplies are inventoried, in stock, and inspected per regulatory and manufacturer’s requirements
- Participates in the Emergency Response Team as an Emergency Coordinator
- Ensures security and confidentiality of EHS documents and data
- Drives between BSC sites in own vehicle
- Must be able to pass a job-related physical
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience; prefer degree Health and Safety, Science, or a related field
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a Health & Safety related position; manufacturing environment preferred
Experience:
- Demonstrated experience communicating effectively with production employees, engineers, technical specialists, and management
- General foundational knowledge of EHS regulations and standards (OSHA, CDPHE, ANSI, NFPA, etc.)
- Obtained or pursuing a Health and Safety related certification (ASP, CSP, CIH, etc.) preferred
- Strong Microsoft Office skills
- Experience organizing data and files
- Experience working in a EH&S or Safety organization would be a plus
- Experience working with organization confidential information a plus
Work Environment
This job requires extended keyboarding time. Our work environment is in a lab and manufacturing environment and will require the appropriate use of PPE. Occasional work is outside in Colorado weather conditions. Must be able to move between BSC buildings and sites.
