Role:
- ILS Workers provide inclusive community-based support to adults receiving services under our Independent Living Skills Program.
- The position entails working 1:1 with an individual who has been diagnosed with Autism, ADHD, Down Syndrome, or other developmental disability, disorder, or diagnosis.
- All programs are individualized to meet the needs of every individual and family dynamic.
- This is a community-based position (the ILS Worker will provide transportation and support to a client as it pertains to accessing community resources relevant to goals and skill development objectives).
- ILS Workers will support clients in maximizing their participation and success within social, educational, and vocational settings and teach functional and communication skills to help clients become more independent.
Position Details:
- This is a part-time position with full-time hours available if you are open to working with an additional client during the workweek.
- There is always an opportunity to pick up extra hours with our Community Integration Program.

Responsibilities:
- Report to ILS Supervisor.
- Work 1:1 with the client, typically Monday-Friday.
- Provide transportation, companionship, guidance, and redirection while in the community.
- Encourage and improve the client’s use of essential life skills
- Work with client on skill acquisition programs (i.e., self-help, self-advocacy, social-emotional, social skills, safety awareness)
- Connect client to volunteer sites and assist with pre-vocational skill development
- Recognize and respond appropriately to challenging behaviors
- Utilize functions of behavior approach to address and promote specific behaviors
- Document relevant data, monitor task performance, and provide a detailed summary of each session
- Participate in Case Conferencing as part of interdisciplinary teamwork to discuss concerns, goals, and progress of the client
- Participate in required and ongoing training and meetings
Qualifications:
- Minimum high school diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Interest in Psychology, Sociology, Education, or related fields
- Experience with teens or adults (personally or professionally) preferred, not required
- Experience with individuals diagnosed with developmental disabilities, preferred not required.
- Willingness to learn and grow
- Ability to accept, implement, and give constructive feedback
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Attention to detail
- Effective communication skills (i.e., written notes, emails, and verbal communication)
- Ability to maintain daily documentation of client progress (Training Provided)
- Microsoft Office 365 (e.g., email, excel, word, PowerPoint, Sharepoint, OneNote, Teams, etc.)
- Must have a reliable car and a working cellular device (we reimburse mileage and a portion of the monthly phone bill).
- Must have a flexible schedule Monday through Friday, some weekends.
- New hires are expected to complete a background check through the DOJ and FBI.
