Institution Classifications Coordinator - Warren County
Job description
Reporting to the Associate Warden for Programs, this position will function in the Programs section at a medium custody male correctional facility. This position’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Communicating effectively with staff, offenders, and the general public verbally and in written form.
- Serving as coordinator and advisor to the Director’s Sub-Committees (DSC) and to area, institution, and/or complex authorities.
- Attending Director's Sub-Committee meetings to advise on policies and procedures, as well as on unique aspects or special needs of a particular prison facility or offender.
- Advocating problem cases through DSC to the Director’s Review Committee (DRC) and coordinate transfers of offenders accordingly.
- Serving as consultant to lower classification committees at the area, institutional, and complex levels, and providing informal training in interpreting policies, procedures and laws.
- Possessing thorough knowledge of the classification process and a knowledge of programs and unique aspects of each prison facility.
- Understanding and utilizing testing results and psychological aspects, along with a knowledge of characteristics of mental conditions and understanding of sociological facets and family interactions.
- Serving as a member on the DCC and FCC committees.
- Serving as coordinator of tort claims.
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits with established working hours of Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm and may require working beyond normal work schedule to meet business need.

The salary grade for this position is NC10 (Salary Range: $39,456 - $69,048). State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result.

About Warren Correctional Institution:
Warren Correctional Institution is a medium custody facility located in Manson, NC which houses approximately 725 male offenders. The facility provides offender labor to one Correction Enterprises operation located off site: The Janitorial Product Plant manufactures a variety of cleaning products, soap, and plastic bags that are sold to various agencies/companies.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree from appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
