Position Description

The Inventory Specialist will perform inventory control activities. You will maintain accurate records of incoming and outgoing products and supplies. Through digital and manual counting you will identify discrepancies with inventory reports and provide report to the Inventory Manager for review.

  • The ideal candidate will possess great written and verbal communication skills along with the ability to use a computer, data entry systems and applications. You need to be able to lift up to 50 pounds and have the ability to stand and bend for long periods of time in community health care environment. Experience with budget management is also key.

Essential functions for the position include:

  • Track inventory maintenance through Athena Flex Scan, McKesson, and other inventory management systems as appropriate
  • Control flows of equipment and supplies
  • Report to management and advising on process improvements
  • Maintain loss mitigation processes and protocols
  • Store and keep accurate inventory of vaccines, medication, supplies, and other inventory as needed
  • Assist with updating inventory processes as needed
  • Compile inventory reports as needed
  • Address any problems, obstacles, or challenges within timely manner
  • Forecast future inventory requirements
  • Examine incoming shipments to verify receipt of the correct types and quantity of materials and supplies
  • Unpack and inspect incoming shipments for damage/shortage
  • Interact with data control system to identify classification of items (stock/non-stock)
  • Accurately processes items according to standard operating procedures
  • Store items at designated locations accurately
  • Maintain records of material and supplies and related materials management activities, as required
  • Pick and stage items for shipment to vendors
  • Coordinate with Facilities team to ensure inventory to properly received/dispersed between all sites as needed
  • Dispose of obsolete inventory as needed
  • Providing weekly and monthly audits of physical inventory as it relates to the verification of internal reporting measures
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements:

Required Experience:
Required Skills and Experience

  • Customer service experience; ideally within a healthcare setting
  • Education: Accredited high school diploma
  • Ability to read, write, and perform mathematical functions
  • Computer skills and average typing speed
  • Warm and friendly demeanor
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role
  • An understanding of medical terminology and administration processes preferred
  • Proficient in information management programs and MS Office
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills

TYPICAL PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:

  • Frequent mobility and/or sitting required for extended periods of time. Some bending, lifting, and stooping required
  • Full range of body motion, including manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination
  • Manual dexterity to operate keyboard, calculator, and photocopier
  • Involvement with coworkers, management, physicians, staff, center personnel, and patients. Occasional high stress work may require dealing with demanding patients and/or personnel.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Clean environment in a community health care center.

  • Does not abuse or take advantage of sick time. Regular attendance is a necessity
  • Reports to work as scheduled and can complete all functions of the job
