Responsibilities
- Effectively evaluate nursing and physician process throughout outpatient, perioperative, and inpatient settings including physician practices
- Assess documentation needs and how those documents are housed within the EMR systems
- Define problems, identify requirements, visualize solutions, and gain user involvement
- Create, build, and maintain hospital and physician office EMR documentation needs
- Conduct validation testing throughout the EMR update process
- Identify opportunities for process improvement within functionality within the EMR system and interact with clinicians and leadership to gain a thorough understanding of their needs and strategic vision
- Research and provide process and system functionality options in relation to EMR
- Implement approved changes within the EMR applications throughout physician practices, outpatient, perioperative, and inpatient settings
- Adhere to TJC and CMS standards as it relates to EMR workflow process, policy, and procedures
- Monitor new EMR projects as assigned and communicate needs effectively to the EMR Manager
- Act as a liaison to physician offices pertaining to flow of EMR information between the hospital and offices
- Ensure consistency of EMR system throughout applications and facilities, promoting a unified patient medical record
- Develop educational training plans and materials, considering individual learning needs and abilities
- Conduct EMR staff training throughout hospital and physician office environments
- Assist in developing agendas and timelines
- Create work lists and learning tools for all staff as it relates to EMR
- Effectively organize time with independent thinking and provide updates to the EMR Manager in a timely manner
- Focus on a balanced approach to systems that considers organizational needs, human issues and technology factors
- Work in concert with IT department to implement, support, and maintain EMR including end user system troubleshooting
Qualifications
The ideal applicant will have a Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum 2-3 years’ experience with implementing or supporting healthcare information systems. Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, and multiple web browsers required; clinical healthcare experience required; EMR experience a plus; MEDITECH experience preferred. Strong communication, organizational, technical, and analytical skills are essential for this position. The applicant must display the ability to meet deadlines and work independently while operating in a complex and fast paced team environment.
