General Requirements
The Accounting Coordinator will report directly to the Accounting Manager. The primary duty of this position is assisting in overseeing various efforts of the accounting and bookkeeping matters within the Accounting Department at Martek.
Responsibilities, Duties and Expectations
- Support duties related to Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions
- Provide bookkeeping support for Martek and other subsidiary/related entities
- Assist in managing the corporate credit card accounts
- Provide support with various financial reports
- Provide support on month-end & year-end book closings
- Assist in the implementation and maintaining our accounting policies and procedures
- Other duties as assigned
Educational Requirements
Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in Accounting or finance
Additional Required Knowledge and skills
- Experience supporting diverse internal customers in a fast-paced office setting
- Some experience in an office and/or business environment
- Excellent customer service skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of accounting principles
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Creative and innovative techniques for performing assignments with ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail, and organizational skills
- Communicate effectively with co-workers, clients, company guests, etc.
- Coordinate projects, set priorities, meet deadlines, and follow up on assignments with minimum direction and using excellent time management and multi-tasking skills
- QuickBooks experience is a plus
- Experience in a government contracting environment a plus
