Position Summary

Develops and manages a supplier base and executes on transactions to deliver commodities that meet production requirements and specifications in terms of timing, volume, quantity, and cost. Identifies and evaluates local market opportunities. Accountable for procurement and/or marketing of raw materials and/or finished products and by-products. Builds and maintains relationships with accounts, including handling of logistics, accounting, and other customer related issues. Analyzes multiple factors influencing commodity pricing and captures arbitrage opportunities between locations.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Responsible for running monthly trade performance reports and estimates in conjunction with finance, merchandising and logistics team.
  • Identifies opportunities in quality and geographic arbitrage in conjunction with Cotton Manager and logistics team to ensure origination is optimized against global values in and in conjunction with global cotton strategy.
  • Reports on US cash prices, market activity and trends to the regional and global trade team.
  • Analyzes and manages commodity position and associated risks including producer contracting, warehousing, marketing and hedging.
  • Assists in optimizing cotton position including forward purchases, warehouse stock and pipeline to ensure optimal profitability by managing grade and transportation spreads, carrying costs, basis and flat positions, futures position and the forward marketplace in both the cash and futures market.
  • Represents the Cotton division at various internal and external meetings, committees and associations. Including overseas Global trade meetings and weekly risk meetings.
  • Responsible in maintaining dashboards including competitor bids, supply and demand models and weather models.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications/Education/Experience/Skills:

  • University degree in Agriculture, Commerce, or equivalent.
  • Ideally 5 years working experience.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience that result in the required level of knowledge skill and competence will be considered.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess risk and exercise sound judgment in making decisions.
  • Excellent computer skills in word processing, spreadsheet and database software applications includes Python, Tableau.
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills and a proactive approach in pursuing new business and building relationships with suppliers and end user customers.
  • Strong planning and communication skills along with the capability to manage change.
