- High School Graduate or equivalent with additional experience in food service.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and an organized filing system.
- Know the Federal and State Guidelines and adhere to policies.
- Knowledge of inventory, ordering procedure, rotation.
- Ability to cook according to recipe or instructions provided.
- Ability to accurately fill out daily production records, temperature logs, daily count sheets.
- Ability to lift up to 60 pounds. Maintain the physical stamina for the work assignment.
- Must possess and maintain a high level of ethics, integrity and confidentiality.
- Must have and maintain a near perfect attendance record.
- Neat and clean appearance. Follow the current uniform policy.
- Must possess exceptional communication skills, be flexible and a sense of humor.
- Must be able to work productively and positively with the FSD, students, the community, staff from other district schools and especially all High School East staff.
- Demonstrates excellent leadership qualities, effective training skills and adapts well to change.
- Maintains strict confidentiality and a high level of integrity.
- Communicate and work harmoniously and effectively with Principals, staff, students, parents and community members.
- Keep FSD informed of any changes in procedures, routine or non-routine, as well as any communications that could impact any aspect of the program. Keep communications open!
- Attend all Food Service meetings, training, in-services days, etc., assigned by the FSD. Hold HSE team meetings as needed to keep staff abreast of necessary information, training, changes, etc.
- Prepare items assigned for catering throughout the district.
- Be in compliance with local sanitation and safety standards. Adhere to all State, federal and district policies.
- Have working knowledge of all equipment in the kitchen.
- Responsible for completing necessary maintenance on all kitchen equipment.
- Report anything that might be a hazard or need repair to the FSD
- Complete or assign monthly inventory and keep other records up to date and accurate.
- Prepare food / nonfood items going out to other schools and coordinate with driver.
- Implement procedures of any new technology adopted by the Food Service Department.
- Telephone communication including problem solving, routing calls, parent concerns, catering, charge lunch procedures etc.
- Provide leadership, direction, training, staff moral and support for all employees and substitutes in your kitchen.
- Maintain an atmosphere of team work, communication and positive approach to duties and staff.
- Must have and maintain a near perfect attendance record and excellent professional diplomacy.
- Perform other tasks and assume such other responsibilities as the FSD and Chef assigns.
- Demonstrates self-motivated work habits, the ability to multi-task daily and excellent organizational skills.
- Must be able to receive, coordinate, stock, rotate and be knowledgeable about all deliveries
- Physical stamina for work assignment. This position requires bending, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and must have the ability to lift 60lbs.
