As Product Line Manager, you will be responsible for driving the revenue growth and profitability of your product portfolio, via the following activities:

  • Acting as the key evangelist for your product line, with a focus on new business development and market expansion
  • Developing product positioning and messaging that differentiates your products in the market– communicating the value proposition of the products to the sales team and developing the sales tools that support the selling process
  • Working together with Sales as a product expert and teammate to help demonstrate the best value to customers
  • Providing market intelligence expertise including understanding customer requirements and their purchasing criteria, and acting as the expert on the competition and how to win
  • Partnering with Coherent’s MarCom group to develop the marketing strategy and manage the marketing programs that drive demand for your product lines
  • Working closely with sales, engineering, manufacturing, finance, and the business unit general manager to define and regularly update your business unit’s product roadmap, taking into account factors including growth potential, return on investment, alignment with strategic goals, fit with business unit technical capabilities, etc.
  • Managing Product development and launch. Working closely with engineering, manufacturing, sales, service, etc., throughout product development projects – from concept to product release – to ensure a smooth and effective introduction of new products to market.

Education and Work Experience:

  • 5-10 years’ experience in both sales and product line management of technical products including direct field sales
  • Technical education with minimum BS in Engineering, Chemistry or Physics. Master Degree preferred
  • Experience in sales/marketing of lasers and optics is preferred
  • Ability to lead interdisciplinary (engineering, marketing, sales, manufacturing, quality, etc.) teams through influence
  • Excellent written and verbal presentation and communication skills
