Southern Nevada Adult Mental Health Services (SNAMHS) is currently recruiting for Licensed Psychologist 1 positions at Stein Forensic Facility, located at 6161 W. Charleston Blvd Building 3, Las Vegas, NV. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others. Psychologists are active members of interdisciplinary treatment teams along with psychiatry, social services, nursing, and caseworkers. Incumbents will formulate individualized behavioral plans and token economy programs, conduct competency evaluations, psychological assessments, and risk assessments, assist in crisis intervention, serve as consultants to other departments, develop programming, and provide group and individual psychotherapy.

Licensed Psychologists may provide clinical supervision for trainees at multiple levels of training, including doctoral psychology interns placed at SNAMHS through the Nevada Psychology Internship Consortium (NV-PIC), an American Psychological Association accredited internship training program. Licensed Psychologists may serve on committees for SNAMHS. The successful candidate will demonstrate support for and an interest in working with a marginalized, underserved, and diverse client population.

Licensed Psychologists must possess current licensure as a Psychologist issued by the State of Nevada Board of Psychological Examiners at the time of appointment and maintain licensure as a condition of employment. Licensed Psychologists report to a Licensed Psychologist 2 who is responsible for providing clinical and administrative supervision.

All incumbents will work an innovative variable schedule and are exempt from overtime. As a condition for continued employment, incumbents must complete and maintain all position and agency required trainings and certifications. Incumbents must possess and maintain a current Nevada Driver's License. Psychologists comply with all professionally relevant laws, regulations, and SNAMHS policies.

The mission of the SNAMHS is to protect, promote and improve the physical and behavioral health of the people of Nevada. Employees pay no city, county, state or social security employment tax. SNAMHS provides continual on-going training and education to our staff, including the availability of on-site CEUs. Employment at SNAMHS meets eligibility requirements to apply for the federal student loan forgiveness program after 10 years of employment and payments on loans.

Vaccination Requirements

Per NAC 441A, this position has been identified as a position that must enter an institution for vulnerable populations. Department of Health and Human Services new hires, who must enter an institution for vulnerable populations within the normal scope of their employment who are not vaccinated for COVID-19 must receive the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine prior to the hire’s start date and must receive all necessary doses of the COVID-19 vaccine necessary to become fully vaccinated to maintain employment.

Minimum Qualifications

  • One year of post-doctoral experience in providing psychological services in an inpatient, outpatient or residential setting.
  • Licensure as a Psychologist issued by the State of Nevada Board of Psychological Examiners at the time of appointment and maintenance of licensure as a condition of continuing employment.
