Machine Design Engineer will be responsible to understand and develop structural/mechanical diagrams such as weldments, pipe and conduit support configurations and details, equipment mounting details, and general arrangements._ Machine Design Engineer will have the ability to produce complex engineering drawings in a 2-D or 3-D environment. Machine Design Engineer _will be responsible to check drawings for accuracy including dimensions, spelling, drafting standards and completeness utilizing correct project design criteria, coordinate with vendors and create a bill of materials.

Participation in field walk downs, as necessary, to obtain measurements, verify as-built documentation, and develop field sketches in support of site modifications and design installations will occasionally be required. Individual will communicate with General Manager and other disciplines to develop drawings and resolve design discrepancies. The ability to interface with the customer and their construction representatives to integrate designs to satisfy their standards is a must for this position.

Education Required: Associates degree in drafting, design or engineering technology or 4 years of equivalent experience in the design of mechanical systems is required.

Experience Required : 7 years (minimum) of experience is required in structural engineering design and/or mechanical system design practices in addition to the education requirements.

Other Required Qualifications : Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. Proficient in Solid Edge (or an equivalent software package) and Microsoft Office software, Word, Excel, etc. is required. Demonstrated technical knowledge of design practices, codes, and standards applicable to structural components is required. Position also requires a working knowledge of structural steel types and materials as they are available in the industry. A working knowledge of mechanical design principles and practices is required. Understanding of basic machining principles is required. Familiarity with PLCs and industrial wiring / controls and hydraulics / pneumatics helpful.

Effective time management skills are required as position may involve working on several projects concurrently while adhering to set deadlines. Ability to pass security, drug screening, and maintain unescorted customer plant access is required. Successful candidate will be required to understand and comply with company policies, procedures, and processes. Overtime work is required. Travel to client sites is required with periods of field/office work.

Position requires individual to exercise independent judgment to develop designs. Ability to perform walk downs of equipment in an industrial plant environment, to include climbing ladders, working at heights, carrying equipment up to 50 pounds, accessing security-controlled areas, and entering confined spaces is required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
