What You'll Do:
- Use work orders and the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to determine work to be done
- Participate in the PM program on all equipment
- Read written documents, diagrams and schematic drawings to determine work procedures
- Install stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment according to layout plans using hand and power tools
- Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect irregularities and malfunctions
- Adjust machinery and repairing or replacing defective parts
- Operate machine tools to fabricate parts required during overhaul, maintenance or set-up of machines
- Ensure operating safety devices function properly on completion of repairs, modifications and installations
- Align and maintain machine tools
- Participate in continuous improvement of all machines
- Keep detailed and accurate maintenance reports and documentation
- Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on machines
- Adhere to workplace safety policies, regulations and compliance
- Maintain a clean and environmentally safe work area
What We're Looking For:
- Industrial maintenance experience required; composite panel wood products industry maintenance experience strongly preferred
- Experience maintaining a continuous press preferred but not required
- Experience with computerized maintenance management systems
- Experience using PLC’s is an asset
- Experience of Mig and Stick welding
- Knowledge of basic industrial 3-phase electricity and devices is a plus
- Ability to identify root cause of problems and effectively initiate immediate corrective action to prevent re-occurrence
- Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills allowing one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
- Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
- Working knowledge of safety standards of equipment
- Ability to work independently without supervision and meet tight deadlines.
- Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- The supply of personal tools as required (Specialty tools are provided by CalPlant)
- Responsible for auditing personal tools required by maintenance employees. (tool lists are required of all personal tools kept on site and must be provided to supervisor)
- Use basic and intermediate mathematical computations for problem solving
- Understanding and use of mechanical and electrical measuring and calculation skills
- Capability to look at the large picture
- Develop contingencies for problems that arise while understanding the consequences of the options
- Assist with troubleshooting and analyzing difficult machinery and process issues
- Root cause failure analysis procedures
