Job Summary
The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for development and improvement of manufacturing process flow. This person works closely with quality, process engineers, maintenance and senior management to implement the strategic goals of the company.Job Duties
- Works with process engineering, to prescribe appropriate production processes and equipment to optimize and continuously improve their output.
- Develop closed-loop process controls that ensure processes are statistically capable and able to remain as such
- Core focus on Industry 4.0, the integration of automation, quality, and traceability data, into the MRP system.
- Participates in or leads activities in equipment selection, plant floor/cell layout, and infrastructure improvements.
- Narrow production problems down to root cause and effectively eliminate them at their source.
- Works with collaborative robotics, machine vision, and other complex automation.
- Estimates future production equipment and tool requirements.
- Supports the manufacturing launch of new/revised products, materials, equipment by determining key variables to measured and controlled, communicating and training team members and evaluating results until process meets targets consistently.
- Creates specifications, writes and executes site acceptance test plans for equipment purchases and works with the supplier to ensure the system meets these specifications.
- Authors documentation, operating instructions, and overall hand-off actions to key stakeholders for new or revised process, or new production equipment
- Designs and coordinates the manufacture/acceptance of customized tooling, gages, and equipment modifications in cooperation with process engineer, and quality engineering.
- Creates engineering drawings and prints as needed to specify in-process control, gage design intent, plant cell layouts, and equipment changes/additions.
- Additional tasks as assigned.
Job Specifications:
- Work performed in a light industrial setting
- Required to lift up to 40 lbs.
- Regularly required to sit, stand and walk about the facility
- Ability to distinguish color variations
- Able to use various measuring devices
- Ability to work safely around industrial controls, low voltage electrical, high-voltage electrical, hydraulic systems, pneumatics systems, electric motors and sensing equipment
- Must be able to work assigned overtime as needed
- Must be able to travel domestically and internationally as needed
Qualifications and Skills:
- Must be a quality and efficiency minded individual
- Strong aptitude in logical problem solving
- Bachelors of Science in Engineering or Engineering Technology related program, Entry Level may apply
- 2D and 3D CAD design experience.. Solidworks and/or Autocad strongly preferred
- Conceptual understanding of, Industrial Controls, and understanding of sensors, machine vision, and their applications in production
- Strong organizational, analytical and communication skills
- Excellent problem solving and decision making skills
- Proficient with Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office programs
- Ability to read and understand Blueprints or Technical Drawings
- Experience with basic measurement and data collection practices preferred
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
