Assistant Center Director, Mathnasium Learning Center
Mathnasium is the best place for kids to learn Math (and, it very well could be the best place for you to work to help meet our mission to change children’s lives.) You will see what we mean when you check out our website! We are looking for a team-player to help assist in running one of our centers in South Pasadena, CA. If you are smart, outgoing, good at multitasking and great with people, then you will definitely succeed at this job.
Here are some details about the job:
- You will be working with some very awesome people who are dedicated to helping kids better understand math.
- The work is fun and dynamic. You will be working directly with our Center Director, who will direct you on certain tasks that need to get done each day and week. But, we constantly challenge each other to get the team to a better place.
- We aren’t big on stress. So, while we will expect you to work efficiently and get things done, we focus on open communication and are open to ideas on how to make each other’s jobs easier. Bottom line – we need the job to get done correctly, but we give you the freedom to figure out the best way to get it done.
- The hours are nice – especially if you like to get your own personal stuff done on weekday mornings. Most of us never arrive for work before noon during the week. During the summer, we get our weekends off (usually). During the school year, we do work Saturdays - but usually just half-day.
Now, let’s talk about the job requirements:
- You need to be the type of person who is good at getting things done. Every day, you will bang out a list of stuff. Fun stuff. Important stuff. Necessary stuff.
- You need to know your way around a computer. So, an understanding of social media, email, navigating the web, and other computer based stuff will be necessary.
- You will be constantly interacting with others. So, you need to enjoy talking with people and giving/getting directions.
- We want you to be meticulous in your work. We value our students – and, we know that it’s the little things that we pay attention to that will keep our customer’s (parents and their kids) faith in what we do.
- We are a Math Learning Center - so, although you are applying for an administrative position, you will be required to comfortably talk to customers and fellow co-workers about the subject. You don't have to be a math genius to do well in this job, but a secure understanding of the subject through 8th grade Algebra is highly preferred.
Overall, we are looking for a good, fun person, who can get stuff done. And to have fun at work (who wants a job that isn’t fun?!) Our office is casual, but we do expect professionalism and punctuality. Being detailed-oriented is a big plus because you will be following systems and processes. But, what we don’t expect is perfection or a long list of existing skills for you to qualify for this job. We can teach you that – if you are a fast learner. We expect intelligence, energy, and a get it done attitude.
This is a part time job and the hours will be 24-36 a week. The starting pay is $17 an hour but based on your performance you can earn up to $23 an hour (and we administer 3 performance evaluations within your first 3 months working here to give you the opportunity to earn that amount.) The position will require you to come into our South Pasadena center 5 days a week.
