POSITION OVERVIEW

BRIEF DESCRIPTION
The Mechanical Engineer will play a hybrid role contributing to the technical portion of the MPI organization.
They will collaborate with cross functional teams in support of current product development, new product development, design optimization and driving cost reduction throughout the organization. They will utilize the tools available to them at MPI (i.e. modern CMM, 3D scanner, etc.) in support of this.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Design engineering and CAD/Solidworks work
- Reverse engineering on current and prospective products
- Driving cost reductions on current products and adding to cost optimization on new product development
- Creating prints/drawings for mechanical components
- Performing material analysis
- Operating quality/engineering instrumentation (CMM, 3D scanner, 3D printer)
- New part creation in ERP system and management of data integrity in system at part level
- Handling engineering changes and optimizing the process to do so
- Project management
- Perform process capability studies for PPAP submissions
- Schedule control plan and P/D_FMEA review meetings per timeline
- Develop all aspects of PPAP documentation including control plan, PFMEA, etc. (Yes! Yes! Yes! Experience w/ PPAP Level III and above is mission critical)
- Working with engineering teams on key supply chain transformation, cost reduction and capital projects
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE, CAPABILITIES AND SUCCESS FACTORS
- BA degree in Engineering or Business preferred but not required
- At least 5 years of relevant experience

- Very strong technical acumen and manufacturing process expertise
- Global sourcing experience in low-cost regions preferred but not required
- Able to generate reports, investigate and resolve problems using basic problem-solving tools
- Working knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methods
- Working experience in ERP operating systems
- Able to read and understand customer/internal prints. Able to evaluate dimensions/tolerances, specifications, etc.
- Must be proficient with MS Office applications
- Able to pro-actively identify issues, their root cause and countermeasure accordingly
- Exceptional organization skills and strong analytical skills
- Design Engineering and CAD (Manual / practical drafting experience is a plus, i.e., back of pizza box engineering)
- Design Data Management and Control (Project Management experience)
- Computer aided engineering solutions for mechanical design and analysis (the ideal candidate would have experience in design modification / optimization, i.e., making someone else’s design better)
- Materials Analysis, Characterization, and Testing (finishes like powder coat, zinc, nickel, anodize, etc.)
- Development and implementation of process improvements in inventory control, demand planning and quality. (Quality yes, the other two are not necessary)
- Proficient computer skills in 3D software, CMM programing, 3D scanner, Excel, Word, and Outlook Yes, mission critical)
- Extensive knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing and CMM capability
- CMM and Verisurf Software experience (any 3D software) (Yes)
- Excel Macros, Access database knowledge
- Ability to multi-task, organize and prioritize assignments

Pay: $60,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
