Medical Assistant
Job description
Assist all Physicians and patients with needed responsibilities on a daily basis.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and ensure efficient turnover of exam rooms.
- Maintain exam rooms in a neat and clean manner at all times.
- Comply with patient needs at all times.
- Escort patients from waiting room to examination rooms
- Document in e-chart medical history
- Ensure patient charts contain all pertinent information and are placed in designated areas for Physicians' use.
- Alert Physicians of patients' allergies prior to beginning exams.
- Obtain and record the patient’s vital signs and weight.
- Assist physician's orders, lab requests, order x-rays
- Follow-up needs with patients.
- Collect samples, such as urine and blood from patients for testing and performs routine laboratory tests on samples.
- Remove dressings, casts, etc., and provide patients with gowns as necessary.
- Schedule pain procedures
- Assist Physicians with injections, aspirations, castings and/or other procedures as necessary.
- Monitor biohazardous waste and prepares for disposal.
- Obtain x-ray and imaging results
- Serve as liaison between patient and physician.
- Monitor supply levels, and replace as needed.
- Instruct patients regarding information needed once they leave the office to include:
- use of braces or crutches
- medication usage
- home exercise programs
- Complete applications for Handicap parking permits, FMLA, Disability forms, and Work excuses.
- Responsible for all patient phone calls, insuring proper documentation
- Must be flexible and comfortable with ambiguity, eager to work in a dynamic environment and willing to learn new skills.
- Photocopy information given to patients, and place copies in appropriate charts.
- Apply knowledge of sterile techniques and OSHA regulations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- May include up to 10 hours a week of marketing (visiting referral sources as needed)
- Willing to learn phlebotomy at our practice
- Must have reliable transportation and be able to travel to different practice locations as needed

Salary: $18-24/hour depending on experience
Compensatory Bonuses depending on productivity and performance
Education/Training: High school diploma or GED required.
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), Registered Orthopedic Technologist (ROT), Orthopedic Technologist Certified (OTC) Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license required. Current CPR certification preferred. BLS Certified preferred.
Experience: 1+ years of healthcare experience

Pay: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour
