A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A MEDICATION ASSISTED TREATMENT (MAT) MEDICAL ASSISTANT

  • Assists the physician as needed, including rooming patients and documenting in electronic health record.
  • Assists providers and nursing staff with a seamless department flow to optimize patient experience
  • Consults with the Providers, Nurses, and Medical Manager regarding judgments and effective decisions related to patient care.
  • Assist with electrocardiograms, vital signs, and patient education
  • Pull and/or request patient records from Clinisync and/or other Opioid Treatment Programs as needed
  • Performs urine pregnancy testing, urine drug screens, breathalyzers, and other tests as necessary and as directed by the providers or Medical Office Manager.
  • Charts results of all testing, communications, medication, and all relevant information regarding patient care accurately.
  • Assists with overall patient compliance in the Opioid Treatment Program, including scheduling of appointments, patient outreach and random call backs.
  • Assists with care coordination and review of patient records. Prior authorization, generates/reviews daily reports and prepares for next day visits.
  • Assist with maintaining and updating accurate Towers and Central Registry record keeping for existing patient and new admissions

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A MEDICAL ASSISTANT

Medical Assistant education and/or experience required. Electronic Medical Records experience required. Physician's office experience preferred. Must have good communication skills and be able to multi-task.
