Job Description

Harbor View Medical Services is seeking a highly motivated, positive individual with excellent communication and organizational skills to work as a Full Time Medical Receptionist for our Three Village Cardiology office located in Port Jefferson.

Candidates must pass a drug screen and background check and must show proof of vaccination for COVID before being hired.

Responsibilities

• Undertakes and provides all services required to fulfill the scheduling function for all appointment types
• Verifies insurance coverage, benefits, and co-payments
• Collects deductibles, co-payments, and/or other outstanding balances and ensures receipts are locked in a secure area
• Obtains referrals/authorizations that may be required for scheduled appointments
• Maintains patient charts
• Enters all required patient and insurance information into (EMR) electronic medical records system
• Confirms patient demographics at each visit and updates patient demographic and insurance information in EMR
• Ensures the highest level of patient satisfaction
• Will occasionally serve as an in-house Call Center Representative, managing inbound and outbound calls with patients

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED
• 1 year of medical office experience in a specialty physician office required
• Familiarity using an EMR (Electronic Medical Record system); Athena knowledge a plus
• Knowledge of medical terminology and medical coding
• Understanding of various insurance plans as well as authorization/referral experience
• Excellent computer skills
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a fast paced environment
• Able to pass a drug screen and background check
• Must be vaccinated for COVID
