We are looking for a professional, service-oriented team player to join our very busy practice. As a full-time medical records clerk, you will be providing support for the release of patients' medical records in a very busy medical practice. Candidates must be able to coordinate and track a variety of details to provide a seamless patient experience and will preferably be bi-lingual in Spanish.
The ideal candidate will have an excellent work ethic, be a quick learner, enjoy multi-tasking and staying organized, be flexible, and understand the importance of a positive, courteous and a professional attitude in the workplace. Great attention to detail and clear communication are essential.

General Summary: A non-exempt, clerical position responsible for gathering, processing, and maintaining patient medical records. He or she will also ensure medical records are maintained in a manner compliant with ethical, legal and regulatory requirements of the medical services system.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Report to a direct supervisor with medical records requests that are assigned to you.
- Respond to phone calls from medical and support personnel requesting medical records.
- Logging medical record requests and logs into system.
- Determine records to be released, by reviewing requestor information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines and obtaining pertinent patient data from various sources, including electronic, off-site, or physical records that match patient request.
- Scan medical records into database as needed.
- Comply with company policies and regulations.
- Escalate issues to manager that delay timely release of records.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent, post-secondary certificate or associate degree required.
Experience:
- Demonstrated proficiency using computer applications and EMR software.
- One or more years’ experience entering data into computer systems.
- Experience using the internet is required.
- Demonstrated success responding to customer inquiries.
- Proven track record of dependability.
- Prior work experience in Release of Medical Records required.
- Knowledge of medical terminology is a plus.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations are preferred.
- Chiropractic clinic medical records experience required.
