Job description

For 80 years, the Neptune Equipment Company, NECO, has taken care of our customer’s water needs, from selling and servicing liquid meters to improving meter reading for municipal districts.

We focus on radical improvements in meter reading technology to help our customers achieve better efficiency for water systems.

NECO travels around Ohio and Kentucky upgrading City’s water meter reading systems.

We work Monday-Thursday 10-hour days.

Installers should expect to work one Saturday out of the month.

We offer on the job training which is paid at 12 dollars per hour. Employees train for about 3 days before they are on their own.

Each morning your project manager will give you a list of work orders to complete. Each work order, you will perform some very basic plumbing and wiring to upgrade the customers water meter.

You will record your work on a paperwork order and in a phone application, so you will need your own Smart phone. NECO pays each installer a $75 one-time phone payment to purchase a case for their phone, and then $10 per week ($40 a month) for their personal phone usage.

Some Installers will need to provide their own vehicle to work out of.

Our Installers can earn up to 400 dollars a day. A realistic expectation when starting out would be around $250-$350 dollars a day. In most city’s you are paid in accordance with local prevailing wages. In rare cases, other city’s will be paid by piece rate.

If you travel with NECO Water, we cover and book your hotel rooms or, depending on the length of the project, we may rent group accommodations locally. If we rent a property for housing, we provide double stacked queen-sized air mattresses.

Typically, installers will travel Sunday night to work Monday-Thursday and then leave at the end of the workday Thursday. So, each installer is home Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

If you’re on a project where the meters are located inside the homes, you will work one Saturday out of the month in order to better accommodate the customers of the utility.

Advancement opportunities:

The next step for an installer is an Assistant Project Manager. Assistant project managers train for a year with a project manager before going on to become a project manager.

Thank you for your interest in NECO. We are a Drug Free Workplace and an Equal Opportunity Employer.
