Under direct supervision, this position utilizes personal experience and professional training to assist in Mobile Crisis Response to children, adolescent and adults, with behavioral health issues including serious mental illness, substance use disorders or co-occurring disorders in crisis in a community setting, in stabilizing their psychiatric crisis and developing coping skills as indicated by the individuals’ initial crisis assessment and service plan. Mobile Crisis Response includes mobile response in the home or community of the client to assess, plan, implement, monitor service plans and coordinate care with community partners and stakeholders thereby minimizing the likelihood of inpatient psychiatric treatment and promoting the maintenance of natural and existing supports. Work may be performed in such diverse settings as residential, psychosocial rehabilitation programs, schools, consumers’ homes, and outpatient clinics. This position assists the team’s primary treatment providers with the provision of comprehensive mental health assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, intensive case management, crisis intervention and stabilization, and support services to persons with serious and persistent mental illness and co-occurring disorders. Services are provided via individual and group modalities. The position requires the individual to work as a member of the Mobile Crisis Response Team and effectively communicate information with the team. Employee will provide after-hours/weekend/Holidays mobile crisis response on a scheduled basis for clients. Employee must exercise considerable initiative and judgment in the effective and efficient administration of departmental programs and community resources. Employee must also exercise tact and courtesy when in contact with individuals, their families, agency staff, community providers and stakeholders. Mobile Crisis Response Teams will respond to cross disabilities crisis throughout the MPNN and Colonial CSB catchment area communities.

Education:

  • Graduation from high school or a G.E.D issued by a state department of education; and has the required knowledge, skills, and abilities as outlined in the current DBHDS and DMAS guidelines for providers of Mobile Crisis Response services.
  • Peer Support Specialist Certification-Required within 6 months of hire; Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) certification or equivalent-Required within 12 months of hire; Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) Facilitator Certification or equivalent-Required within 12 months of hire.

Experience:

  • The incumbent must be a person who has experienced a mental health and/or substance use condition and have at least 2 years of has sustained recovery by effectively managing their own wellness.
  • Must possess a valid Virginia Driver's License. Must obtain a TB test with satisfactory results within 30 days of employment and annually thereafter as required by licensing authority. Must maintain current CPR/First Aid certifications.
  • Must complete current Agency behavior management training (MANDT, TOVA, or NVCI) within first year of employment.
  • Must maintain all additional trainings and credentials as required by regulatory, licensing, and payer entities.
