Job Purpose:
The Network Engineer is responsible for LAN infrastructure, design, implementation, configuration and maintenance of Hassett Logistics LAN/WAN environment. Manages and maintains a multi-user computer system (server) for on site and remote facilities. Establishes and performs highly complex network-based projects involving the design, analysis, maintenance, and implementation of LAN/WAN equipment and networks. Performs system administration of microcomputers.This position is based onsite in our Oakbrook Terrace, IL office. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.

Key Responsibilities/Outcomes:
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

• Perform system and network administration in an environment comprising Linux and Windows-based servers, messaging systems, network and security equipment, such as router, switches and firewalls.
• Manage the ongoing availability of the network, addressing the organization’s needs for information sharing, data security, system archiving, and backup and recovery capability
• Assist in the review of documentation prepared by other areas and provide the necessary training, updates, both written and verbal, for the Help Desk and company personnel
• Diagnose and resolve complex local and wide area network issues
• Work with vendors and application development groups to integrate hardware and software solutions, as well as administer the life-cycle of the systems assets
• Following established policies and procedures
• Performance tuning and capacity planning
• Manage and administer security in the LAN environment
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with vendors.
• Recommend and implement IT infrastructure building-related activities
• Provide system support to internal and external customers in a timely manner
• Maintain documentation regarding network configuration, operating procedures, and service records relating to network hardware and software.
• Support computer operations, as required
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Must be available on an on-call basis for after hours support
• Additional responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
• Research new technologies to improve LAN infrastructure and user capabilities, i.e., remote access, single sign-on, etc.
• Participate in long and short range technology planning
• Help Desk support

Job Requirements

Minimal

• Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or

Computer Engineering.

Preferred

• 6+ years experience in Systems and/or Network engineering.
• Ability to work with multiple hardware and software platforms at an intermediate level is essential.
