Position Summary:
Assist in care of hospital patients under the direction of nursing and the medical staff. Position is responsible for adhering to all standards of nursing care, and for promoting teamwork among co-workers.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- After evaluation of competency, the Nurse Tech is allowed to perform all duties of an Emergency Medical Technician/ Certified Nursing Assistant as well as other technical skills which have been learned in a nursing education program and for which competency has been previously demonstrated under the supervision of a faculty member.
- Exceptions include but are not limited to the following: The Nurse Technician may not administer medication, perform assessments, act in a supervisory position, take verbal orders from the physician or other health care provider, or develop the plan of care.
- A Registered Nurse is directly responsible at all times for the Nurse Technician, who is functioning as an EMT licensed person with a defined job description.
- The RN must be physically present in the institution, not, however, providing direct supervision for every activity. Upon graduation of the Nursing Program, must take the first licensure examination within 90 days after graduation, if graduate does not pass, must take and pass the 2nd examination within 5 months of graduation

Qualifications:
- Requires current enrollment in and successful completion of the first semester of an accredited Nursing Program.
- To remain at the status of a Nurse Tech, the employee must successfully pass and complete each semester including clinical and theory classes they are enrolled in.
- BLS required.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Basic Computer skills.
- De-Escalation/TEAM training within six (6) months of hire, and ongoing certification
