TITLE: On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) Calibration Engineer

DUTIES: Manage all technical aspects of the On-Board diagnostic (OBD) calibration on 4 cylinder and 6 cylinder gasoline engine applications to meet California Air Resources Board (CARB) and Federal regulations. Demonstrate OBD certification compliance on the Federal Test Procedure (FTP) cycle by obtaining test results that prove the diagnostics fail before reaching the required OBD emission levels. Demonstrate OBD certification compliance off cycle by obtaining test results that prove the diagnostics produce acceptable in-use monitor performance ratios. Collect passing and failing data populations to quantify the variability of each diagnostic and calibrate the OBD diagnostic features to minimize false pass, false fail, and meet the applicable emission standard and the in-use monitor performance ratio (IUMPR) requirements. Coordinate vehicle usage to meet project plan dates, perform OBD self-certification emission testing to insure regulatory compliance and meet the system functional objectives. Release production OBD calibrations and be responsible for validating the calibrations according to the design verification plan and address field issues. Validate the diagnostic software strategy including shorted high, shorted low, open circuit, rationality, functionality, in-use monitor performance ratio, and J1979 Legislative Diagnostics. Domestic travel up to 10% is required.
