Operations ManagerMavalerio

The Operations Manager will oversee and support the daily operations of Production, Packaging, Labeling, Warehouse and Maintenance, to ensure efficiency and compliance with company standards and procedures.

This position is located in Ashland, Virginia.


Essential Responsibilities:

  • Lead, motivate and support all functions of the Operations to include Warehouse, Manufacturing, Packaging, Labeling and Maintenance.
  • Assigning personnel, establishing priorities and reporting results of the processing flow
  • Monitoring daily production schedules to ensure production goals are met
  • Identifies opportunities within the manufacturing process for continuous improvement, including cost savings, increased productivity, and quality standards
  • Analyze productivity, eliminating waste, reworks, and losses
  • Has broad production knowledge and participate in projects, from inception to completion
  • Manages and communicates with operations team regarding changes to quality standards and performance, schedule adherence and continuous improvement strategies
  • Organize and perform training for the production team
  • Communicates between management and the production team to ensure policies and procedures are adhered to
  • Serves on the Food Safety Team and assist the Quality Manager in addressing, correcting, and preventing food safety issues
  • Participates on the SQF, HACCP, Recall, Internal Audit Teams and Safety Committee.
  • Ensures compliance to quality and food safety standards, regulations, and legislation.
  • Performs any other miscellaneous duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent work experience in a production environment
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in food manufacturing required
  • Previous experience as an Operations Manager and or Supervisor

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to maintain a safe work environment by monitoring and enforcing safety procedures across all departments
  • SQF, GMP, HACCP, FSMA, and 5s
  • Traceability control, sensory, CCP/CP and SSOP’s
  • Microsoft office
  • Timekeeping- ADP
  • Requires good judgment and decision-making ability in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to resolve conflict timely
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills
  • Punctual, proactive, and energetic
  • Ability to prioritize and effectively manage time
  • Bilingual communication skills (Spanish or Portuguese preferred)

Physical Demands/Work Requirements:

  • Ability to move product by lifting up to 55 lbs., pushing, bending
  • Ability to continuously stand or walk
