Pay: $19.39 - $32.69 per hour
Job Summary:
This job is responsible for processing received documents and ensuring accuracy of scheduling orders prior to the exam being authorized or scheduled in a timely manner. Communication with techs, other departments, provider offices, insurance companies, and patients must be professional and courteous. Must have a high-level understanding of scheduling protocols and indications for exams we perform. Will work with referring provider to change orders per protocol. Prepare orders and documentation to include, but not limited to chart notes, for Prior Authorization and Scheduling Departments. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision. Assumes other responsibilities as assigned by Manager/Supervisor.
Essential Job Functions:
- Identifies all received documents electronic or fax
- Ensure documents are linked to correct patient account
- Update demographics when needed
- Update insurance information when needed by utilizing electronic resources, contacting the provider, or patient as needed
- Knowledge of insurance carrier prior authorization requirements and ability to make corrections as needed. Order Verification Spec
- High-level understanding of exams and protocols in order to identify if referring orders are correct and able to make changes as necessary.
- Asks appropriate questions to get information needed from Radiologists, Technologists, and referring providers
- Verifies proper exam is ordered based on diagnosis and protocol
- Calls and/or obtains updated orders and chart notes when needed
- Uses multiple applications or resources to obtain necessary supporting documentation
- Uses clear documentation for order process in RIS
- Following scripting for phone calls in a professional manner
- Provides high quality customer service
- Follow the HIPAA privacy and security policies and procedures.
- Check work e-mail daily
- Performs other duties as assigned
Physical Requirements
Work is classified as sedentary in physical requirements. Requires the ability to lift/carry 1-5 pounds frequently, occasionally 10 pounds maximum.
Mental Requirements
Work requires high attention to detail and the ability to handle mentally stressful situations. The ability to maintain high level of sensitivity towards confidential information is also required.
Working/Environmental Conditions
Work environment consists of normal office or administrative working conditions.
