Job description
Responsibilities:
- Assist with preparation and filing of pleadings
- Work with outside counsel on litigation files
- Coordinate collection, review and production of documents and responding to discovery
- Assist with trial preparation
- Prepare and organize case files
- Work with claims team on litigation and other files
- Conduct legal research as needed
- Complete filings with the Coast Guard
- Assist in drafting contracts and other legal documents
- Manage contract database
- Assist in maintaining company legal documents and records
- Work with insurance broker on coverage changes, reporting, etc.
- Assist in creation of “data room” for transactions
Qualifications:
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies or related field
- Paralegal certification credentials
- 3-5 years related experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Understanding of legal language and principles, research methods, court pleadings and processes, and other related matters
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, and to exercise discretion and good judgment
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
