ECU Health Roanoke-Chowan Hospital is a 114-bed community hospital located in Ahoskie. Serving four nearby counties, the 15-bed emergency department sees approximately 18,000 patients per year. ECU Health Roanoke-Chowan Hospital provides a wide range of health services, including medical, surgical and radiation oncology. In addition, the Wound Healing and Pain Management clinics serve as referral centers for neighboring ECU Health hospitals and providers.
Ahoskie, NC is ideally located an hour from the Norfolk/Virginia Beach area and two hours from Raleigh, Richmond, Williamsburg, and the beautiful Outer Banks of NC. Ahoskie offers a moderate cost of living, a strong sense of community, and a temperate climate and location to support a variety of year round outdoor activities, such as boating, kayaking, hunting, fishing, hiking, and golf.
Position Summary
As a Patient Access Representative (PAR), you will be responsible for creating the first impression of the organization's services to patients and families and other external customers. The PAR performs outpatient scheduling, registration for all patients (emergency, ambulatory, and inpatients) and collects proper data, documents, and signatures to ensure hospital bills will be paid by third party payer or the patient. Serves as first point of contact for physician offices and other customers regarding scheduling procedures at ECU Health.
Minimum Requirements
- High School or Equivalent (GED) or higher
- Excellent communication (both written and oral), detail orientation, organization, and multitasking skills
- Basic computer skills
Career Ladder
Level I:
2 to 3 years of Customer Service experiences
1 to 2 years of Registration and/or Billing experience within a healthcare setting is preferred
Level II:
- 3 to 5 years of Customer Service experiences
- 1 to 2 years of Registration and/or Billing experience within a healthcare setting required
- Insurance Verification experience
Preferred:
- Associate and/or Bachelor Degree
- 2 to 3 years of Registration and/or Billing experience within a healthcare setting
- Experience with EPIC and medical office workflows
- Experience with Microsoft Office/PC-based applications (Outlook, Word, and Excel)
Other Information
- 38 hours a week
- Rotating Shift: (days & nights with rotating weekends)
- Required to work rotational holidays
