The Onalaska Police Department is located in Polk County Texas and is led by Chief Jessica Stanton. The mission of the Onalaska Police Department is to effectively and efficiently provide for the protection of lives and property, preserve the public peace, and provide needed community services with the highest level of professionalism and ethical standards. The department relies upon community involvement through programs such as Crime Stoppers and Neighborhood Watch. Community involvement and support help make the department successful.

Applicant must be TCOLE certified and in good standing. Applicant must complete the Personal History Statement form available on the TCOLE website and City Application. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Citizen of the United States of America
  • Twenty-One years of age
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Possess valid Texas Class C Driver’s License
  • Possess Texas Peace Officers (TCOLE) License
  • Pass a background check
  • Have never received a general or dishonorable discharge from a law enforcement agency
  • Have never made any false or deceptive verbal or written statement relating to your performance as a peace officer
  • Must be eligible for re-hire at previously employed law enforcement agency
  • Proficiency, Knowledge, and Capability Prerequisites
  • Proficiency in the use of law enforcement equipment
  • Knowledge of law enforcement procedures and practices
  • Capability to understand, comprehend and follow verbal and written instructions
  • Capability to accurately conclude reports in a prompt manner
  • Capability to adapt and accommodate responses to fluctuating demands
  • Capability to meet the physical requirements at the time of hiring and to meet the physical requirements every two (2) years thereafter

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $41,580.00 per year
