Position Summary:
We are seeking a Performance Manager (PM) in southern FL to support the Marine Centers located on the southern east & west coasts of FL and in Puerto Rico. The Performance Manager is responsible for driving day-to-day sales and profitability of the marine centers in their assigned area by exceeding customer and team expectations. The PM partners with the Area Director (AD) and Marine Center teams to drive sales growth and profitability by executing the strategy and key priorities as directed by the AD. The PM assists the AD in recruiting, training and coaching the leadership talent throughout their designated area to develop a bench of future leaders. The PM empowers the Marine Center Managers to lead the businesses and manage operations autonomously within the marine centers. The PM assists the AD to have all Marine Centers in a state of sales and customer readiness at all times and ensure that all company programs and expectations are executed on time and within budget.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Execute Area Business Strategy and Priorities
- Under guidance from Area Director, executes and communicates Area strategy and key priorities through Marine Center Managers to ensure the alignment of the Area with overall company strategy.
- Drives the execution of all company programs and sets clear and measurable goals for Marine Centers; holds Marine Center management accountable for attaining those goals
- Ensures that marine centers within their assigned area meet or exceed customer service expectations; champions and embraces company resources and uses them to create a Raving Fan experience
- Talent Management
- Under guidance of the Area Director, assists in developing Marine Center Managers into leaders who run marine centers autonomously and at the highest level of consistent performance.
- Partners with Area Director to execute development plans for high-potentials and to recruit and attract talented and diverse Crew Members.
- Drive consistent operational excellence to achieve all-green scorecard
- Partners with Area Director and Marine Center Managers to drive consistent execution and day-to-day operations to result in all-green scorecard, including inventory management, logistics and truck issues, forecasting and inventory planning, Salesforce operations and PRO business support
- Maintain standards and make regular Marine Center Visits
- Makes regular visits to assigned Marine Centers to validate that West Marine standards are maintained at all times; partners with Area Director to take appropriate action when standards do not meet expectations.
- Assists in Marine Centers within the area at the direction of the AD, as needed
Education, Experience & Skills:
- Minimum High School or GED
- College Degree in Business or related field and/or U.S. Military Service preferred
- 5+ years experience in retail store management, multi-unit experience preferred
- Understanding of retail store operations, P&L, inventory, presentation standards, customer service and financial reporting
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational, interpersonal and problem solving skills
- Strong people development skills – recruiting, training, coaching, etc.
- Knowledge of boating, fishing and/or watersports preferred
- Ability to travel up to 75% of the time is required
