Work Schedule:Must be able to work every other weekend.
Summary:
Collects and processes patient specimens for testing in adherence with laboratory protocols.
Performs patient registrations to ensure accurate patient identification for testing and billing purposes.
Position Responsibilities:
- Performs pre-analytical processes including registration, ordering, patient identification, phlebotomy, specimen labeling, specimen verification, receipt and shipment.
- Performs clerical functions including but not limited to telephone communication, report generation, and faxing.
- Provides outstanding customer service by demonstrating effective and appropriate communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred: Minimum of 1 year office clerical/secretarial experience in a medical environment; previous customer service experience, ability to follow standard operating procedures.
Required Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Training/Certifications/Licensure:
Formal phlebotomy training required. ASCP, NHA or AMT certification preferred.
Valid Driver’s License required where off-site (non-hospital) specimen collections are a function of the position.
