Nurse practitioners (NP)/ Physician Assistant (PA) provide health care services to patients that may include the diagnosis of illness and physical conditions and the performance of therapeutic and corrective measures including prescribing medications for patients whose conditions fall within the authorized scope of the practice as identified on the college certificate/licenses/certificates. This privilege includes the prescribing of all controlled substances under a DEA number. The Nurse Practitioner may also diagnose and treat human responses to actual or potential health problems through such services as case finding, health counseling, health teaching, and provision of care supportive to or restorative of life and well-being. Advanced Medical Psychiatric Services Inc. The protocols used in this practice are contained in The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-5), the 2013 update to the American Psychiatric Association's (APA) which is germane to this particular practice. Nurse practitioners (NP)/ Physician Assistant (PA) perform complete psychosocial assessments, including ordering, interpreting and evaluating diagnostic tests and examinations. Assume on-going responsibility for each patient from discovery of the disorder to recovery. Diagnose and treat both chronic and episodic disorders including complications of otherwise normal processes. Establish and document the health care plan and diagnosis, maintain records of each case that are sufficiently complete for any physician reviewing them to evaluate the effectiveness of the plan. Consistently demonstrates the knowledge, skills, abilities and behaviors necessary to provide superior and culturally sensitive service to each other, to our members and to customers, contracted providers and vendors.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Collect subjective data (obtain history).
- Collect objective data (clinical interview, MSE).
- Develop an assessment (diagnosis).
- Develop and implement a management plan.
- Facilitate the referral of patients to the appropriate health facilities, agencies and resources within the community.
- Order pharmacologic interventions.
- Develop and implement an educational plan.
- Plan for appropriate follow-up care.
- Consistently supports compliance by maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of information, protecting the assets of the organization, acting with ethics and integrity, reporting non-compliance, and adhering to applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, accreditation and licenser requirements (if applicable), and AMP's policies and procedures.
Basic Qualifications:
Experience
- Minimum one (1) year experience as an NP or PA.
Education
- Graduate of an accredited RN and NP Program OR graduate of an accredited PA program.
- NP Only: Master's degree in nursing (effective 1/1/03 for those not previously grandfathered in by CMS).
License, Certification, Registration
- Current California Nurse Practitioner Certificate or current California Physician Assistant license.
- NP Only: Current California RN License.
- NP Only: Current California Furnishing Number.
- Current American Heart Association BLS card.
- National Provider Identification Number (NPI).
Additional Requirements:
- Current DEA Registration Number
