Fort Fairfield, ME - Full-Time - Permanent Opening

Job Description:

Fort Fairfield-based business looking for an experienced Pipefitter/Welder to work on local pipe installation, maintenance, and repair projects. Employee will receive competitive wages, a per diem allowance for meal and travel expenses, and an excellent benefits package that includes health insurance, dental insurance, PTO, paid holidays, and a retirement plan with company match. Primarily FT/Days, through shifts will vary by assignment. $25.00 - $30.00/hr. based on experience.

The Pipefitter/Welder will plan, install and perform maintenance on piping systems for a variety of industrial properties, including but not limited to: food processing plants, paper mills, lumber mills, production facilities, schools, and hospitals. Employee will be responsible for reviewing blueprints, planning and construction of new installations, as well as performing maintenance and repairs on piping systems and related equipment. Applicants must demonstrate the ability to use basic hand tools and reference books as needed and will be required to pass a hand-written test and open root 6G pipe test in carbon and stainless steel to demonstrate their knowledge and hands-on skills.

Responsibilities:
  • Inspect job sites and prepare materials and equipment accordingly.
  • Study blueprints and properly plan installations.
  • Install piping within plumb, level, and square requirements using a variety of tools to modify pipes to specifications.
  • Measure and mark pipes for cutting and threading.
  • Figure pipe runs, including rolling offsets.
  • Assemble and weld pipe components and systems.
  • Secure pipes to walls and fixtures with brackets, clamps, and welding equipment.
  • Order required materials such as pipes, hangars, brackets, hydraulic cylinders, etc.
  • Repair and maintain pipe systems, supports, and related equipment.
  • Clear pipe systems of obstructions and test their functionality.
  • Comply with all relevant codes and regulatory standards.
  • Follow all safety guidelines as issued by the business and state.
Job Requirements:
  • Trade school education or apprenticeship in relevant field.
  • Ability to meet state licensure requirements.
  • Prior experience as a Pipe Fitter and/or ability to pass all required pre-employment exams.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Pre-employment physical required.
  • Prior experience working with sanitation piping a big plus.
Schedule: Full-Time/Days; shifts may vary based on project timelines or client needs.
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00/hr. and full benefits.
