General Description

The Press Operator is responsible for running maximum production on the presses. He or she will be accountable for putting the correct VFI into the press, taking it out after the cycle is complete, cleaning it, and putting it in its designated area.

Specific Duties

  • Follow all applicable environmental, health and safety rules and procedures and immediately report all dangerous situations, near-misses, and injuries.
  • Participate in developing and updating risk assessments and review all applicable risk assessments annually.
  • Removing the VFI from the press when the press time cycle is finished.
  • Trimming and cleaning the VFI so it will be ready to ship.
  • Loading the catwalk with VFIs.
  • Follow instructions from the Shift Leader, Supervisor, and/or Manager.
  • When removing the holding rings from the VFI, put them in the designated area.
  • Pull the poly cable from the top of the VFI bottom before putting in the press.
  • Let the Shift Leader or Supervisor know when a VFI needs to go to Quality Control for repair.
  • Keep work area clean and orderly including behind the presses.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working in a production environment preferred.
  • Must be able to work in a non-air conditioned environment for a minimum of eight (8) hours per day.
  • Bi-lingual is a plus.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to stand, walk up and down stairs for up to 8 hours per day. Must be able to lift and carry 80 pounds. Ergonomics are 95% standing or walking and 0% sitting and 5% using a keyboard. Must be able to communicate to instruct, train, or assist employees. Must be able to twist, turn, bend and work at a rapid pace. Must have 20/20 vision with correction for inspecting. Reasonable accommodations may be considered on a case by case basis.
  • Heavy Work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly.


Personal Protective Equipment

The following list of PPE is required while in the manufacturing area.

  • Safety Glasses conforming to ANSI Z87.1 or higher
  • Steel Toe Safety Shoes conforming to OSHA General Industry Standards 29 CFR 1910
  • Hearing protection conforming to OSHA General Industry Standards 29 CFR 1910
