The Role

Particle Measuring Systems is seeking a Production Technician IV in a full-time position within our high-sensitivity liquids particle counter manufacturing line. As a technician, you’ll be working as an effective team member to perform testing and calibration of electronic, mechanical, and optical sub- assemblies and equipment while providing troubleshooting, technical assistance, and problem solving to other team members.

Specific Job Responsibilities:

  • Testing, aligning, and calibrating high-sensitivity instruments and sub-assemblies
  • Applying your knowledge of electronic and optical circuits to troubleshoot and repair instruments
  • Training others in production processes and procedure
  • Providing process or product troubleshooting to support both in-house and external production efforts
  • Ensuring that our quality and safety standards are met by understanding and following procedures and system requirements.
  • Develops a technical working knowledge of products to provide technical assistance to other production staff
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance and set-up of equipment
  • Maintain accurate inventory information by performing routine material handling activities and computer transactions
  • Works effectively with other team members to ensure that customers’ quality and delivery expectations are met
  • Support product changes and new product development
  • Assists in the development of quality documents for process flow and process control
  • Perform root cause analysis of nonconforming product
  • Create pictorial, graphic and written production procedures

Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in Electronics (two year vocational education) or military equivalent and at least 10 years of related experience in a manufacturing environment required
  • A four-year (120 Hour) vocational education in Electronics, Photonics, Laser optics, or military equivalent with at least two years of related experience in a manufacturing environment being strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to read analog and digital circuit schematic diagrams
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • The ability to be a team member focused on supporting the customer’s needs
  • Experience in the successful instruction of others in technical processes and methodologies
  • Able to successfully interact with others to provide technical assistance
  • Willingness to effectively learn and practice progressive manufacturing methodologies
  • Intermediate computer skills - Must be comfortable with Microsoft Office suite
  • Must be able to lift as much as 25 pounds, several times per day

Pay Range
starting pay $34/hour.

How we determine what we pay (compensation philosophy)

Particle Measuring Systems determines pay for positions using local, national, and industry-specific survey data, for the Boulder, Colorado area. We will evaluate external equity, which is the relative marketplace job worth of jobs directly comparable to jobs within our company.

For new hires, we try to make competitive offers between the minimum and around the midpoint of the range. This allows the new employee room for future merit increases during review cycles. There may be times when we will offer above the midpoint. The decision to do so will be based on the applicant’s level of experience, education, and specialized knowledge and skills.

Additionally, we consider the external market rate, the amount we have budgeted internally, and the compensation rates of the employees within the company doing the same position.
