The Design Engineer position is a critical role within the Surgical RD&E team. This position requires a detail-orientated individual with problem-solving and communication skills (verbal and written). Willingness to work with cross-functional team members including Clients, RD&E, Manufacturing, Marketing, Regulatory, and Quality to achieve objectives. They will support new product development projects including branded and external OEM medical device products, creating designs based on client specifications.

This position is expected to last 1 year.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
What you’ll do
  • Preparing detailed engineering drawings and 3D models utilizing SolidWorks and Autocad
  • Communicating with design engineers and clients incorporating concepts into models and drawings
  • Create 3D models from rough sketches
  • Create CAD assembles as required
  • Implement GD&T methodology to capture design intent
  • Revising and reviewing engineering drawings (Process ECN’s)
  • Ensuring models/drawings conform to internal and external drawing standards
  • Design and manufacturing problem solving
  • Procure 3D printed prototypes
  • Follow all Ecolab’s SOPs and WI
  • Function within all quality systems and regulations, particularly related to medical devices
QUALIFICATIONS:
What you’ll bring
  • Technical Degree in mechanical design or related field (Or equivalent experience)
  • 5-year relevant experience working as a drafter/designer
  • Experience with Solidworks and AutoCad (Certified Solidworks Associate or higher)
  • Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Word
  • Ability to work under general supervision on assigned tasks or portions of a project
  • Comfortable working in cross-functional teams or alone
  • Excellent math skills
  • Self-motivated
  • Additional certification from the American Design Drafting Association (ADDA), preferred
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T and application, preferred
  • Good understanding of traditional manufacturing processes, preferred
  • Experience working within a regulated environment, preferably medical device preferred
  • Comfortable working in cross-functional teams, preferred
  • Willingness to learn; comfortable learning and working on projects that may be in unfamiliar areas, preferred
