Job Title: Propagation Team Member

Reports To: Propagation and Foliage Greenhouse Manager

Position Status: Full Time

Compensation: Hourly, Non-Exempt

General Job Description:

Propagation Team Members are responsible for propagating new crops grown at Walla Walla Nursery along with the care of these crops through their early stages of growth.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Propagates new crops by hand
• Prune and trim plants.
• Water, irrigate or mist plants.
• Assists in fertilization of plants.
• Weed plants in containers by hand.
• Sort and dump dead, inferior or surplus plants.
• Sort and consolidate plants in plugs and containers.
• Group and cover plant for over-wintering.
• Conduct ground maintenance, weeding in landscapes and cleanup.
• Assists with inventory
• Other duties as assigned

Skills and Abilities

• Assume responsibility for learning the names of the plants grown by WWNC including both Latin and cultivar names.

• Must be energetic and be able to work long shifts with very little sitting.
• Must be able to work in a standing position for 95% of a daily shift.
• Must be able to bend and lift, using both arms repeatedly.
• Must be able to grip, pinch and carry/transport multiple potted plants
• Must be able to lift 50lbs.
• Must be able to push/pull up to 800lb. wheeled racks
• Must be able to perform tasks with arms raised above shoulder level.
• Must be able to perform tasks on low ladders.
• Must be able to work in adverse and uncomfortable weather and temperatures. This includes temperatures below freezing and temperatures above 100*F.
• Must be able to walk across uneven terrain
