St. Martin’s Publishing Group is seeking a Publicist to work on PR campaigns and strategic planning for our titles, specifically with a role on Wednesday Books, our YA imprint. Our Publicist will create and execute publicity campaigns for a variety of high profile and debut YA authors, working closely with publishing and marketing colleagues on the Wednesday team. In addition, there are opportunities to work on PR campaigns for general adult fiction and nonfiction books across the St. Martin’s Press Group. Our ideal candidate will have experience planning and executing PR campaigns and tours for YA authors, a proven track-record of booking national media and will thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. This role operates under a hybrid model offering the opportunity for partial remote work as well as requiring an occasional presence at our downtown Manhattan office.

What you will do:

  • Creating original and compelling publicity campaigns for multiple titles per season
  • Planning and executing multi-city book tours and author appearances, including coordinating in-person book signings, virtual events, arranging travel and creating comprehensive tour schedules
  • Pitching and securing top national and local media, including print, radio, television, and digital outlets
  • Writing press materials, including compelling press releases and creative pitch letters
  • Working closely with publicity team as well as maintaining attentive communication with authors, agents, publishers, editors, sales and marketing colleagues
  • Presenting at large and small meetings both in-person and virtually
  • Researching new media outlets, cultivating and maintaining media contacts

Experience/Education

  • At least 3-4 years of publicity experience with a well-rounded knowledge of trade book publishing
  • College degree or equivalent relevant experience

This position will have an annual salary of $58,000-$62,500
