Job description

The part-time assistant will provide administrative support for the twelve-person publicity department for Tom Doherty Associates, which includes the Tor, Forge, Nightfire, Tordotcom Publishing, Tor Teen, and Starscape imprints. This position is currently offered remotely.

What you'll do:

  • Track media coverage and maintain internal publicity database
  • Track bestseller information
  • Manage book mailings and review copy requests, as well as manage regular digital mailings
  • Assist with creating press releases and other publicity materials
  • Research specific niche markets/publicity opportunities as needed
  • Assist with author tours, including book travel and create itineraries

What you'll bring:

  • Excellent organization skills and detail-oriented
  • Ability to manage and assist on multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment
  • Ability to work independently and remotely, as well as collaboratively and as part of a team
  • Strong work ethic and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interest in book publishing and publicity
  • Proficiency with Google Workplace, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Ideal Experience:

  • Prior experience in a fast-paced environment; book publishing, publicity, or bookselling a plus
